I hope everyone is gearing up for the long holiday weekend! I know that I’m looking forward to time with friends and family…hopefully outdoors! We plan to head out to the Woodcliff Restaurant tonight for dinner and live music by Blue House. Tomorrow, Tom plans to golf in the morning and then we’ll be going to Lake Ventura for fun and fireworks. Sunday we invited all the kids and grandkids over for a pool day and then possibly watch the fireworks from our church parking lot. The weather doesn’t sound promising for Sunday….but we shall see. If not, I’d like to see “Grownups”. Monday our calendar is completely free…which probably means I will edit and Tom will putz around the house doing yardwork and playing in his garage. I like those kind of days. We’re both home and although we’re not totally together, we do take breaks together. I’m looking forward to a really free, no pressure weekend. It sounds divine.
Can we talk about House Beautiful magazine? A few years ago, I probably wouldn’t (and actually didn’t!) have bought it. My mom gave me a subscription about 6 or 8 months ago and I have to say that I LOVE it! Last night, I sat down with it and read it almost cover to cover….which I rarely do with any magazine. I especially enjoyed the article featuring Ellen O’Neill’s apartment. I devoured it! Such great touches visually…and then to be able to read how she came up with the design ideas…very inspiring. There’s also a short Q & A with Kelly Wearstler AND every month features a recipe from the Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten, who I adore. This month’s recipe looks KILLER. Spaghetti with Shrimp and Broccoli…not one oddball ingredient. Very simple, healthy and doable. I plan to make it soon. If you are like me and hadn’t really been drawn to House Beautiful before, give it a try, I think you’ll enjoy it.
Okay, so if the title of today’s post got your attention, do I have an unusual offer for you! Earlier this week, I raved about the weekend training I attended for Royal Family Kids’ Camp. I believe in everything about this worthwhile camp for foster kids. I want to do more to help. Right now, one of the biggest needs is financial support. So here’s what I came up with this morning:
The mini-sessions won’t take the place of family photos or senior photos….this is a session that will be about 15-20 minutes and will include about 6-10 edited images for you to view. From the images you view, you will choose your one image on CD with rights to print as you choose, plus your one 5×7…which will probably be a different image than you choose for your CD. You will have the opportunity to purchase additional prints at an additional cost, but certainly not obligated or pressured to! I hope this makes sense!
This mini-session would be perfect for (but not limited to):
*updating a child’s photo between full photo sessions
*for anyone with a baby under one year (because they change SO much in the first year!) and it’s not always affordable to do photos every 3 months.
*adults who need an updated headshot for business (I normally charge $100 for digital rights to one image, plus sitting fee)
*to document an anniversary or special occasion
*Senior Citizen updated photo (I love to photograph older people and I think many times they overlook having a new photo taken…unless it’s for the church directory : )
*or just a silly, fun shot that is unique!
* how about a photo of your beloved family pet?
*or a shot of you with your hot rod, classic car or motorcycle?
*it would also be a good opportunity to try a more relaxed photography experience, if you haven’t ever had photos taken in this style.
I am very excited about doing this and hope that you are too! Just email me (contact me on the upper left column of the site) and I will put you on the schedule! My goal is to sponsor at least one child for a week at camp and hopefully more than one!
Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!
God bless!
