i’m a big believer in proper timing. however i do think it’s good to be flexible and not so focused on proper timing, that you miss spontaneous opportunities. last week was busy as usual, but thursday, we made a last minute phone call and ended up combining an errand with dinner with friends. it was a much needed break in the midst of deadlines. right now, i have a list a mile long of things that i want to do (or hire done) around the house. i’ve had a pile of new accessories on a chair in the living room for months now. i have good intentions of getting things rearranged and set up, but i just haven’t made the time to actually do it. last week, 3 gorgeous new canvases from the wedding were delivered and now they’re sitting on the floor. AND, with Christmas so close i’m thinking maybe when i rearrange, i should just do my holiday decorating. the other night at kelly’s birthday dinner, we were all talking about how we really want to enjoy the Christmas season this year and how we are all thinking of decorating earlier than usual, so that we can enjoy it for longer. i always take Christmas decor down right away after Christmas, so once december 25 has gone by, i’m usually antsy to take things down. i will take a before and after photo regardless of how i decide to proceed. maybe i will just start slowly decorating for the holidays, as i rearrange. it’s not like i have to do it all in a day or two anyway, right?
i have spent some time up in my studio making things lately. sometimes i go for a week or more without getting up there and that’s too long! i used to spend an hour or more every night sitting at my desk, either actually scrapbooking/crafting or at least sketching ideas. i know that i need that time almost daily, or i get out of sorts. it’s my way of recharging and staying grounded. it’s much more than just gluing and cutting for me. it’s thinking about telling our story and sharing what is most important with my family and friends. when i scrapbook i don’t just document what we’ve done or where we’ve been. for me, it’s about sharing my thoughts and feelings about life and relationships. deep thoughts, i know. if you want to see what i’ve been up to, check it out here. make sure to click on the design team gallery, to see lots of inspiring stuff : ) i linked my page mainly for my mom. i know she’ll want to see and won’t want to have to try to navigate the website! i made my first page about the wedding! i absolutely love the pattern paper that i used for this page! i am VERY picky when i’m working on pages for a wedding album. even though i have access to the photos, i still want to get it right and make the pages really timeless. i still really, really love to scrapbook. i know that quite a few of my friends who started out scrapbooking, have lost their love for it. thank God for tara (you can’t ever quit t)! i do understand that people move on and are doing other creative activities. i respect that. i just hope i don’t lose all my ”old” scrapbooking buds.
last weekend, i met a really sweet family….who i knew i would love before i even met them. because joellen is a friend of cari’s AND because we had shared a few emails, i just knew they would be wonderful to work with….and they were! that’s one thing i love about building a business via word of mouth. joellen and her family came to the loft prepared, and i love that! they brought cool meaningful props and great outfits!
this is a new favorite photo of mine. i have plans for this shot…..if his mama doesn’t mind?
she loves books….almost made me want to be 11 again.
i loved this shot so much, that i actually wanted to try to recreate it yesterday when i took brooke and josh’s family photos (which is a huge deal, because with 4 children and a busy life, we haven’t taken a family photo of them in over a year! we realized after the wedding, that we didn’t even get a family photo of them at the wedding. ) anyway, the lighting didn’t work out, so i didn’t get this shot of them. but if you know me, you know that i try to approach each photo session with a fresh perspective and i really try to avoid “canned” shots. so the fact that i actually entertained the thought of recreating this shot for my own family, tells me that i really like it. (all that to say i like a shot!)
i enjoyed this sesson so much!
have a great monday and God bless!
