switching it up….

i had good intentions of posting this morning, but i just didn’t get it done. i’m going to be out of town tomorrow, so i didn’t want to let another day go by without posting. i have some sneak peeks that i want to share. plus, i just wanted to say hi.

today, i had a satellite t.v. dude here all afternoon, so i wasn’t able to work on my to-do list the way i had planned. instead, i baked a strawberry cream cake. i had high hopes for this cake. i made a couple of mistakes (for instance, it was supposed to be one 9 inch round cake that you split after baking….i made 2 - 9 inch cakes. they were very thin. fortunately i checked on them about halfway through the baking time and it was obvious they were done. i went back and reread the directions and it was clear enough) i really should have read through the recipe more carefully….but my house was sort of a zoo, so i will use that as my excuse. although it turned out okay, i didn’t keep the recipe. if i were to make it again, i would just make a pound cake and fill it with fresh strawberries and whipping cream. oh and i never did really figure out the purpose of the gelatin? i am much more a cook, than a baker : ) i do make a good waldorf astoria cake and texas sheet cake, as well as being a decent pie baker, but that may be the extent of my baking. i do have friends who are amazing bakers, so i think i will just let them satisfy my sweet tooth cravings.

tonight, while i was working in my studio, i had the first season of glee on. such a great show! i’m totally hooked! having a t.v. that only plays dvds hasn’t been all bad!

last weekend, i photographed cooper. he is one busy one year old! he was shy for the first few minutes, but he really warmed up. his family was visiting from topeka…i am always thrilled when i get to photograph people who are in town visiting! i have quite a few kansas clients rawk chalk jayhawk!

tomorrow, we plan to be on the road early, so hopefully the snow that is falling won’t accumulate! it’s going to take a lot to keep us from going in search of treasures!
