staying on track…

so far this week, i’ve stayed the course with my “to do” list. i’m checking things off the list and feeling great about it. i’ve cleaned, purged, worked out, organized, edited, ordered, and cooked. it feels good, but i’m trying to keep in mind that no matter how hard i work at getting the list accomplished, i will never be caught up. and if i ever did catch up, i don’t think i would enjoy the feeling….well, at least not for long.

last night, i made corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots, and soda bread. and it was good. it was all i could do not to eat leftovers for breakfast. can’t wait to have it for lunch! we enjoyed having mom and dad here for dinner. we all ate until we were stuffed! i was going to take photos of the food, but it really wasn’t pretty : )

this past weekend, i took photos of our niece sarah and her adorable family. they’re expecting a baby boy next month! miss ella is a funny, busy little soul. love how expressive she is!

i am constantly amazed by the authenticity of children. they can’t be anything but themselves. i love that. and the dynamics of a family. the unselfishness of a man and woman who work together to create a stable, loving environment for their children. i am always in awe of this. as a parent of grown children, i tend to forget the urgency of parenting young children. but each time i photograph a young family, i see it. i see the commitment, the love, the tirelessness. such is the case with travis and sarah and little miss ella. soon a little dude will join them…and he doesn’t even know how blessed he will be. i can’t wait to meet him!

i read this in my one year Bible this morning:

“your own soul is nourished when you are kind, but you destroy yourself when you are cruel.” proverbs 11: 17

i hope to live by these words. my intent is never to be cruel….and yet, human nature can be cruel. by the grace of God, may we strive to be kind and nourish our very souls.

God bless you today!
