pretties, a *b* list and a giveaway…

sometimes i feel like i get really redundant in what i write and share. but then i realize that part of the reason for that, is that what i like i like, and what i believe i truly believe, so even though a lot of things are changing and evolving, many things remain solid with me. so bear with me if i seem to repeat myself.

*b* list of things i’ve been meaning to share:

  • fiskars punches  i haven’t done any kind of giveaway in a long time, so since fiskars happened to send a few extra punches, i think it’s time. if you want to have a chance at two of the newest punches available, just leave a comment. tell me something interesting in your comment : ) that’s wide open, right? here are the punches-august-18-004-web

there are some really great new punches that just came out from fiskars. i’m anxious to start using them.

  • this article. new summer themed projects featuring fiskars tools. check it out!
  • these ginormous marshmallows. chachie(harper’s name for chelsea) emailed me and several others about these. so i had to have them! tom loves marshmallows, so when he came home for lunch yesterday, he noticed them right away!

my new camera strap from owl people aka kaitlyn. i absolutely adore it!

  • i love arugula salad my name, not martha’s. i do really enjoy arugula. in fact, tom and i are having an arugula salad for lunch today. after seeing julie and julia, i really am inspired to cook again. this morning, i saw a simple, great looking shrimp dish being demo’d on the news. i can’t wait to make it. if it turns out, i’ll share the simple recipe.
  • wedding invitations and rsvps came yesterday. a huge, heavy box. i was nervous about them, but i think they turned out well! i was so scared that i would have a typo or the colors wouldn’t be right…jared is picking them up in a bit, so hopefully he will agree.

the title says, “pretties” and these three are probably more than just pretty. they are gorgeous girls.

August 18, 2009 - 11:11 am Kim M - I love when you post new pics and I agree, those are three very pretty girls. It always inspires me to get my camera out and click away. Something interesting....gosh, you are totally asking the wrong person, nothing interesting ever happens in my life and I am not complaining, I love my boringly routine life! The most interesting thing to happen this week is I got to go to the grocery by myself with no kids, yeah for alone time!

August 18, 2009 - 11:34 am Amber Scurlock - Love, love the marshmallows...and the girls....gahhh! Beautiful is such an understatement! =) They coordinate so well too! TFS!

August 18, 2009 - 11:55 am susan m - I saw marshmallows at the market just the other day and meant to pick them up, but someone spoke to me and I got distracted. Back to the market to get some!!!

August 18, 2009 - 12:21 pm mandie - Love the marshmallows! so pretty! Um, for something interesting...? How about, my 2 sisters are FINALLY coming to see me in Oct. after I moved from Michigan to New Mexico over 3 years ago! They will be my first family to visit, and I'm so excited! I guess it's more exciting than interesting, but it's all i've got. ;)

August 18, 2009 - 12:54 pm Crystal - I love those marshmallows! Can you share more info about where you found them? I might have to put DD who lives in NYC on the hunt for me. I'm thinking they won't be found up here in Canada - you know, the frozen north and all that nonsense :)) Interesting - the interesting thing about today is that I have spent 5.5 hours helping DH with field stuff and zero time in my garden where there are beans and raspberries crying for attention. And even more interesting - I'd rather be in my studio creating with Stacy Julian's prompt today!! I love those punches and would give them a very good home :))

August 18, 2009 - 1:25 pm Karen - Hi Becky, you are such an amazing photographer and an even more amazing person! No wonder everyone in the area wants you to take their pics. These pictures of my girls are amazing. How will I ever pick!! PS I love Mondays too:)

August 18, 2009 - 1:30 pm emma - love the new punches! the camera strap is to die for! i love the colors and patterns in it... :) great pictures, emma

August 18, 2009 - 1:33 pm kerri - I always love checking out your blog, your photographs, etc...and look almost daily...the photographs and the 3 young women today are just gorgeous! I'm not sure if this is interesting but is more "cute-melt your heart" today was my son's first day of 1st grade. I put a greeting card in his backpack last night (he found it at school) and when I picked him up he came running up to me and said "Hi Mom, thanks for the card". Just made my day. Kids are great! I could give the punches a great home too. :)

August 18, 2009 - 2:41 pm Judi Robinson - Beautiful girls. You captured them spectacularly! Something interesting.....i'm headed out to take my new little middle schooler to 'test' her locker combo :) and we are stopping on the way home for milk (which we need) and marshmallows (which I now want :)!!

August 18, 2009 - 2:58 pm Gina - Hmmm, something interesting. I am planning a trip to a flea market or Labor Day weekend. I plan to look back at your tips. ;D Yes, the young ladies are beautiful and you did a fabulous job. And the marshmallows are sooo cute! Oh, thanks for the giveaway. =D

August 18, 2009 - 3:11 pm Brittney - Love reading your blog and seeing your beautiful pictures . . . always inspiring! Something interesting: If you love marshmallows, you should check out: http://www.whimsyandspice.com/ They make homemade marshmallows - even chocolate ones! YUM!

August 18, 2009 - 3:21 pm Amber Reed - Tell you something interesting, huh??? Well, I am headed to a little town in Southern Indiana this weekend - and the Inn is said to be haunted. I am kinda freaking out - not into the whole "ghost" thing, but it is a fun getaway with the girls!!

August 18, 2009 - 4:45 pm Nancy - Hey Becky Beautiful photographs - as always!!! My interesting fact - I live in Stone Mountain GA very close to Stn Mtn Park, which according to their literature is the second most visited Park after Disney World. They have a nightly laser show which brings in thousands each night. The base of the mountain has a "walking trail" all the way around it measuring 5 miles. This spring I started walking daily and have walked around this mountain many many times. A huge plus is that I have lost 30 pounds. Oh happy Day!

August 18, 2009 - 5:03 pm Patti Mullican - I'm reading Julia Child's memoir, My Life in France and it is really interesting to me on many levels. Anyway, the other day my inlaws took us to my husband's favorite restaurant and when I opened the menu I noticed the sauce on the entree I usually order was beurre blanc. The same sauce Julia wrote about which he discovered in France and was the first person to document the recipe. I thought that was so cool. Maybe not uber interesting, but kinda cool since I had just ready about it! :)

August 18, 2009 - 5:21 pm Deb Adam - New to your website via Cari Kraft.. my daughter is a junior in college and is doing graphic design and marketing. Would looove to surprise her with these punches. She loves to scrapbook and create..

August 18, 2009 - 6:26 pm Kim - Hi Becky, I'm a big time fan of your work, both in scrapbooking and photography. I read your blog almost every day and get so much inspiration from you:) Something interesting...I was wondering if you ever take pictures of wildlife (i've seen your pics of dogs, which are gorgeous). I have squirrels and chipmunks that I feed out on my deck every morning and if I am late with their breakfast, lol, they will bang on the door to let me know. It's hysterical!! Some of them are even tame enough to eat from my hand. Anyway, I've gotten some really cute pics of them (and my birds, like cardinals and blue jays, etc...) and wondered if the subject matter interests you too. There's nothing more beautiful in the winter than seeing a beautiful red cardinal against a backdrop of white snow. Have a great day! Kim

August 18, 2009 - 7:13 pm kerri - Another interesting thought regarding marshmallows...Try making smores with a reeses peanut butter cup instead of a hershey bar.

August 18, 2009 - 7:23 pm Connie - While following your blog, you have inspired me to get out my camera and actually USE it! Interesting tidbit: I've even framed some of my photos and hung them on the wall. Something I never would have done before! Now I need to find out how to really blow them up BIG! Sure could use those punches to 'punch up' my photos! Thanks for creating such a lovely blog!

August 18, 2009 - 7:45 pm Elizabeth Beasterfield - Ooooo, how I love punches! I'm going to submit something that I found interesting that I learned recently - dryer sheets are repurposeable in sewing projects! It takes paints and can be sewn to projects rather easily!! So now all those little "tossies" can be used again! I'm thinking oh maybe making some flowers out of them?! Hmmm...the possibilities! Anyways, thanks for the chance to win!

August 18, 2009 - 8:10 pm Jessica T - Dang....those girls should be models! Great pictures...and I love reading your lists!

August 18, 2009 - 8:24 pm Tagyn - I have punches but none as decorative as these and I would love to give them a try!

August 18, 2009 - 9:08 pm DebbieLynn - Interesting...I just found you because of an inspirational quote on Janna Wilson's blog. I love your things...I'll keep coming back!!

August 18, 2009 - 9:27 pm Vicki Chrisman - Oh..those Marshmallows look YUMMY! Love your new camera strap... I just bought fabric to make one..but need alittle time. I leave in the morning for OK..but I'll call when I get home.. and make a date for lunch... okay? GORGEOUS photos... boy does that green of her eyes look amazing with the green chair .. or what? wow

August 19, 2009 - 5:49 am Amy Coose - Talk about gorgeous!!! Those pics are amazing, and I love the marshmallows, too!

August 19, 2009 - 8:27 am Kaitlyn - Wow, those girls are stunners! They look like they just walked off a CD cover shoot! Yeah for camera straps too! LEt me know if you have any inquiries, I would love to make more.

August 19, 2009 - 10:39 am Tricia Z - Hi! These things that were interesting happened to me this week: I reconnected with an old friend and she met my daughter for the first time. We hope to get together again soon. We received the Maddie Sprinkles doll from lilsprinkles on Etsy- so very cute! I ate Ciabatta. Delish! We made lemon poppy seed muffins and brought some to our neighbor. I found two singers, new to me, that I really like, and ordered two CD's with their music from the library. A nice week so far!

August 19, 2009 - 9:33 pm Deborah Malbone - Hi Becky! I have been checking your work for some time on Fiskars and have to let you know that each time I do I feel inspired to create something new :) Thanks for that! Something interesting? OK, how about this... According to numerolgy studies this is a description of you :) Humanitarian, giving nature, selflessness, obligations, creative expression. How 'bout that creative expression part??? Deb♥

August 20, 2009 - 8:39 pm Robin Smith - I love your blog. It inspires me creatively, domestically, and spiritually- WOW! Thanks Becky.

August 31, 2009 - 10:36 am Christy T. - I stumbled across your blog today. Your photography is amazing. I love looking through all those beautiful pics. I've never seen the fiskers punch with the corner punch. Cool.

September 3, 2009 - 5:49 am Judy - Becky, I might be a nut but I loved your camera strap AND the ironing board cover under it! That is your ironing board isn't it? I love the way you think to take pictures of everything that is around you...like the marshmallows.
