moving up, thank you…

when i posted on saturday about the KETV a-list, {beckynovacekphotography} was in 8th place. i didn’t even know i was in the running until late in the game  (last year the same thing happened and we ended up in 2nd place), but we moved from 8th to 3rd over the weekend! thank you for voting and please don’t stop! i have a lot of ground to make up. here’s where you can vote: ketv a-list. (i do wish wowtv had a list like this….i’m partial to tracy madden, ya know) again, thank you so much! your kind reviews made me weepy! i’m so thankful to have such great friends and clients…and many overlap!

buy Jimmy and Judy there has been so much going on lately, that i’ve forgotten to mention a lot of important things. the day that tom and i went to lincoln to do the photoshoot that i’m going to be sharing some peeks of today, we met up with kirby, amber and addison for lunch. it wasn’t just any day, it was kirby’s birthday. it was so nice to spend a little time with them. it was a gorgeous day, so we were able to sit outside at buffalo billy’s (i think that’s the name of the restaurant?) i was mad at myself because i didn’t have my camera (it was in the car blocks away) and addie looked so adorable! i have not been so good about taking pics of the kiddos lately. i need to make a conscious effort to do better.

i was looking forward to doing chelsea and caleb’s engagement shots, partially because the locations were fresh to me. that does make a difference. i like to change things up as much as possible. i had a great time with them, they were willing to try pretty much anything i asked of them! it has really been hitting me lately how important it is to have trust with my subjects. it proves to be true over and over….when i have clients or subjects who trust me to do what i do, the results are always best!

quality people, i tell ya! can’t wait for their wedding next summer! hope you like these sneaks caleb and chelsea.

today, i’ll be sitting at my computer much of the day. it’s sort of weird outside today, so i’m fine with being inside. yesterday, we sat by the pool most of the afternoon, so i’m not feeling as deprived of outside time. i already did a shoot this morning and i’ll be doing another tonight, so i’m getting outside time when i shoot at least : )

check out the jbs inspo blog for a simple photography tip from me. i do so enjoy checking it out every day. there is great inspiration there and lots of energy! i love when blogs/sites are updated regularly, and this one is! there’s a freebie on there right above my tip. it’s a good thing!

August 3, 2009 - 9:46 am Chelsea - The pictures are amazing (of what I've seen of them)! Thanks Becky! :)

August 3, 2009 - 10:05 am Megan Zimmerman - love love love the black and white shot!!!

August 3, 2009 - 10:17 am Naomi Kuddes - These are really really fantastic! You made my brother look like not-a-geek! Ha, good job. :)

August 3, 2009 - 4:10 pm Patti Mullican - Speaking of tips, what do you look for in a location? Also, any hints for photographing your own family? My hubby does NOT like being directed and has very little patience for multiple shots.

August 3, 2009 - 6:00 pm Shelley - the black and white is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Consuelo came through surgery good. When they opened her up they found alot more cancer that the PET didn't spot so they took aton of extra tissue. Now we just wait and pray, trust, and hold tight. I told her about you praying for her and showed her your blog at the hospital and she asked me to thank you and that you are beautiful. Her husband and 3 kids are scared but their faith in our awesome healer is so precious. I will let you know what the biopsy results tell us. Your prayers mean more than I could ever tell you. Thank you for being so big of a light in my life.
