harper quinn is 3 today. i don’t think i can properly explain how full of life this child is. everywhere she goes, people know her by name….she’s pretty unforgettable. when she sees tom or i, she screams *pop* or *meem* at the top of her lungs, runs to us and squeezes us around the neck as tight and long as we will let her. it is the absolute best. however, she does have a temper, so when she’s mad, everyone knows it. nothing is held back. i guess what i love so much and hope no one ever squelches, is her independent, confident, exuberant self. i love those qualities in children in general….but hate when i see it crushed by either parents or other adults who are trying to mold them into miniature adults. i’m so thankful that my parents didn’t squelch it in me….and encouraged my enthusiasm as a child, especially my mom. she actually encouraged it! i try to encourage it in my grandchildren, as well as children i photograph. it’s a beautiful thing! and harper definitely has it! she says to anyone in earshot, “i harper, i beautiful prinshess” and she is.
the dress is from crewcuts and is her birthday gift from tom and i. as you probably know, i ADORE jcrew and crewcuts. i ordered 2 dresses from jcrew for myself as possibilities for jared and beth’s wedding. i also bought a 3rd possibility at von maur. the fact that they have lauren hutton model in their catalogs just endeared them all the more for me! so today we will celebrate with her little friends and sunday, we’ll celebrate with more family and friends. happy birthday baby girl!
this past sunday, i had the opportunity to photograph blair and her horse, preston. she’s a cool girl, not fussy at all (love that!) and preston is such a pretty boy!
