i don’t know how to describe a post that i know is going to be all over the place? so hang on.
yesterday, i had a really snuggly baby with me(which i totally savored!), so i couldn’t get here….and after he left, my day was well underway, no turning back! the only thing that we did, other than snuggle, was a magazine cover possibility, that ended up changing after the fact…..so now i can share the sweet images. the topic was homemade baby food:
there’s more to putting together a cover image than i would have guessed before actually doing it. i appreciate covers much more than i did in the past.
this last shot would not have worked for a cover, but i love his face so much i wanted to share it here-
he does love green beans : )
earlier this week, harper’s birthday party was here at our house. brooke and i had this idea to do a faux photobooth for part of the entertainment and favors. we started with having them do the photos, then lunch in the backyard and then an afternoon of swimming. i am not as young as i think i am. i took a 20 minute nap when they left! of course, i was hustling around before the party started, getting things ready, so that’s part of my excuse for being so wiped out!
ironically, harper was the only girl who ended up at the pretty table. she fits right in with all the boys though! with 3 brothers, she can hold her own.
the whole idea of the photobooth, was to use a printed photo package as the party favor in the end. it ended up being a little more time-consuming than i thought it would be (partly due to my computer being slow, because i was doing about 20 tasks at once), but it did work out.
i love the way they look all lined up on my kitchen island. we did cut one wallet off of each package for harper’s scrapbook (that she doesn’t even know she has!). i want to do a page for her with all of her little MOPS friends photos. brooke thought it would be a really great thing to market the whole birthday photobooth idea….but after seeing how much work it is, i don’t think anyone could afford it! cara and i do have a cool idea along this line in the works though! hopefully by this fall we’ll proceed with it! in the midst of all the busy-ness lately, it was fun to take a break from my routine and put together these tissue flowers (while i watched “shopaholic”) i think they look almost equally cute on my work table in my studio, as they do hanging from my favorite little tree in the backyard-
and here are a few shots that i used from the photobooth shoot:
a new favorite. i’m calling this her official 3 year photo.
harper’s pal callie. she is such a doll!
it was carter’s birthday and party too. we had the boys do muscle poses-which i think are so stinkin’ cute!
all in all, it was a really fun day. i hope the kids enjoyed it as much as i did!
that night, we did jared and beth’s official engagement photos. i can NOT wait to post them next week! i think they both look so great….maybe i’m biased : )
tonight, i’m super excited to be doing photos for tom’s sister jean and her whole family, including kids, grandkids, scott’s parents, and scott and jean. the location is going to be so beautiful! can’t wait! plus, tom is coming with and we’re making an evening of it.
Eraserhead on dvd tomorrow will be the final summer wedding i’ve shot in a series. not the final wedding, but the final in a row. i’ll have a few weeks off, and then one wedding a month through the rest of this year. it’s been incredibly fun, energizing, inspiring, fulfilling and exhausting! next month will start off the senior photo season…i’ve done a few already, but next month i’m loaded with seniors. i really enjoy doing those shoots too. there’s not too many photo situations that i don’t enjoy. if you are thinking of booking a senior session, call now! i’m almost full in august. also, once again, i will mention that it’s not at all too early to book your family session for Christmas photos. i know it seems early, but this year i have vowed to set a time deadline and stick with it, so that i’m not overwhelmed! i haven’t set that date yet, but once i get through this weekend, i plan to set that up.
earlier this week, i met kay and her high school friends at the loft for a “friend photo shoot session”. i love this idea. if kay looks familiar to some of you, i was married to her older brother mark (brooke and jared’s dad). i think of kay as my little sister…even though she towers me! her and her friends are so fun! they even invited me to join them for dinner after the session. i had a blast not only photographing them, but just hanging out with them.
shadows are cool. thanks for having me do this kay and friends!
i hope you all have a wonderful weekend! God bless!
