Oh my. I learned so much. My head is spinning. You may notice one thing that’s a little different? For the first time in 4 years I’m using capitals. Time to change it up and not just with capitals. {beckynovacekphotography} is going to have a makeover. Nothing is going to change as far as my philosophy or my love for photography….other than I’m more passionate than ever. For the past week, I was taking in so much information that I wasn’t able to relax and sleep much at all. I would lay down exhausted, but my mind would not stop.
Jeff and Julia Wood’s 2 day class was awesome. It was exactly what I needed right now. The creative side of my business comes very naturally, but the business side, not so much. I took pages of notes and can’t wait to implement things. This winter I had been thinking about things that I thought I needed to do to and everything that Julia taught confirmed what I was thinking. I have a new perspective. I think anytime a person steps out of their daily life, it gives perspective, but this is over the top! I need some sleep!
I also went to Audrey Woulard’s presentation on Sunday afternoon. I have admired her work for a long time and enjoyed hearing her speak. I love her simple straightforward approach. It works and that is inspiring! I would have missed this if not for my sweet Cara. We didn’t get to spend much time together, but I was glad we connected a couple of times!
I listened to lots of photographers with lots of different ideas and thoughts, and I’m grateful that they were willing to share.
The trade show was another highlight for me. It was great to get to see and touch products that i have been interested in. I bought some things for the loft and I’m inspired to set them up when they arrive!
All in all, I think attending WPPI was one of the best things I could have done. You, my clients, will definitely benefit! I’m bursting with ideas….and not just ideas for your photoshoots, but for what we’ll be able to do and how we’ll be able to incorporate them into your homes. Now, THAT is exciting to me! You know that I adore interior design!
We did take time to play a little while we were in Vegas too! We went to Gold & Silver Pawnshop. Tom watches Pawn Stars and couldn’t be that close and not see Chumly!
we stood in line to get in and it was packed in their tiny little shop! tom enjoyed it, so that was good. while we were waiting in line, we met a cute young couple and shared a taxi back to the strip.
I enjoyed the window shopping.
I made a list before we left of all the places we wanted to see. It was a lengthy list! And surprisingly I think we crossed everything off the list. I was sad to see that the Social House isn’t at Treasure Island anymore, but I did see a huge Social House sign that said “coming soon” at Aria. Very happy news! Aria is gorgeous by the way. I hadn’t been to Vegas for two years, so things had changed quite a bit.
One other highlight of the trip, was the House of Blues Sunday Morning Gospel Brunch. Great music, great food and wonderful atmosphere! We really enjoyed it.
I took so few photos of our week away. Tom did get a shot of me while we were just relaxing yesterday and it isn’t too bad! Other than the huge zit above my eyebrow! Hello photoshop. It may just replace my current headshot.
One thing that I think was equally good and refreshing for me, was that I was completely unplugged for a whole week! I missed it (and you guys!), but it was a good thing. It was good for me personally and great for Tom and I! When we were flying home last night, he said, “I’m probably not going to see you for a few days after we get home, right?” Poor guy!
Before I get on with my day, I wanted to say thanks for the support in the new portrait ebook! here’s a link to the ella blog post, just in case you missed it-shutterbug. The ebook will be available next month!
Have a great day and God bless!
