Since I haven’t posted in a while, you may have thought we were already laying on the beach…not so, just busy. I took the time last night to count the number of projects I’ve completed so far this month/year: 17. That’s more than I had probably done in the 6 months prior to January. Today, I plan to finish up a project for the JBS inspo blog. Check it out today to see peeks of the new products debuting at CHA at the end of this month. Gorgeous stuff! I’m so happy to be a part of this team! My project should be up tomorrow or Thursday, if you want to check it out.
Yesterday was a typical, crazy busy Monday. I ran around, super stressed out and crazy. It was dumb. I had a few too many deadlines that landed at the same time and I wasn’t working ahead of schedule, thus the craziness. Why do I do that to myself? The sad thing is, I think I’ve passed this on to my daughter. When we talk about our days, I realize that I’ve cursed her with this trait of thinking we can do more in a day, than is humanly possible. I’m so sorry Brooke. Anyway, yesterday, when the last task that absolutely had to be done, was done, I crashed. I sat in my chair and read the paper and couldn’t move. I finally forced myself to make dinner. After dinner, I sat in front of the TV, for the first time in a long time. I mended a stuffed duck of Payton’s, I addressed baby shower invitations, I purged crafting supplies and I watched completely useless shows…The Bachelor and Harry’s Law. I really enjoyed Harry’s Law, with Kathy Bates. Unrealistic, wacky, fun characters, some really memorable lines…which I can’t remember right now! But at the time, they seemed profound : ) Since my weekends aren’t really about rest and relaxation, I guess I could cut myself some slack. I worked pretty much all weekend, so it stands to reason that I would crash a little on a crazy Monday. That’s my story anyway.
On Friday night, we did get to see the baby boy’s nursery. Seeing the crib all decked out in plaid madras, the rocking chair, the little shoes and clothes….made it seem so much more real. He will be here in a few short weeks! I think the fact that my friend Kelly became a Gram for the first time may have made me a little sentimental too. Sweet baby Sutton was born on Friday early evening and I can’t wait to meet him! Congrats to Katie and Garrett!
I had two awesome photo sessions on Saturday…sessions that made me sooooo happy! I’ll be sharing some from the morning session today. The afternoon session was a family shoot, with my friend Denise and her family. More on that soon! Tom and I had an early dinner out and then I came home and worked late into the evening.
Sunday, we went to church and I thought we had our annual business meeting afterwards…but I had the date wrong, it’s next Sunday….which will actually work out much better for us! We had our favorite after church lunch at Fu’s…can you say, vegetable fried rice, his famous egg drop soup and egg roll? Instead of church potluck? oh yeah. If you know me AT ALL, you know that I am freaked out by potlucks…unless I know everyone who is bringing food. A little weirded out by unknown kitchens (is there a cat on their counter? do they wash their hands????) eek! I’ve had this phobia since I was really little. I know restaurants can be disgusting too, but in the back of my mind, I know that they have to pass state inspections, which is a little comfort. Anyway, after lunch, we came home and I made brownies for a funeral Monday morning, then we went to Tom’s company Christmas party (really it was an open house celebrating their newly built office. Their roof collapsed last winter, under the weight of the snow…very scary, but fortunately it happened on a weekend and no one was in the office), then we celebrated Griffin and Payton’s birthdays with dinner at their house. Grif turned 7 on Saturday. I can NOT believe our sweet little Grif (the wittiest 7 year old on the planet), is 7. Payton turns 9 next month, but since my parents will be in Arizona for the rest of the winter, we celebrated his birthday early. We have lots of January birthdays in our family….Brooke, my Mom, Grif, my Aunt Mary and my Gramps. I know Gramps is gone, but I still think of him lots and particularly on January 12.
In between all of the stuff we did over the weekend, I spent pretty much every spare moment on the computer, editing and ordering. So, all that to say, weekends are rarely relaxing around here! At least not for me. But, I’m not complaining! I am thankful to be busy…I just need to prioritize a little better.
Today, my schedule is much more doable! I will even carve out time to workout! and blog!
I had Nicki bring Hadley to my house on Saturday morning for her 9 month session. The light in my living room is so pretty and with the new pink rug, I thought it would be a fun change of pace. Hadley is just a perfect little subject! I giggled and giggled as I snapped away!
We clapped a lot.
Cloth diapers are sooo cute now!
I have known that Nicki has great style and taste…from taking her and Jason’s engagement and wedding photos, and now seeing how she dresses Hadley, just confirms her great taste! I am in love with the flower hair clips in the perfect yummy colors…as well as the colorful cloth diapers, leggings and every other piece of clothing she chose! Hadley is beautiful regardless of her clothing, but still…
I hope you have a fantastic day!
God bless!
