It’s a rainy day here, which was disappointing, until I realized that I sort of need a rainy day at home. I rescheduled a photo session that I was looking forward to and I’m settled in at home, ready to get to work. I have several projects that need some attention…always. Photo projects, paper projects and household projects, and I know that if there are things that need to be done around the house, I need to do them now, because when summer is here, I will use every moment I’m not working to enjoy the outdoors.
Now that things are cleared out a bit after the garage sale, I feel like I can get more focused on updating little bits and pieces of my house. By the way, our garage sale was a huge success! In the first twenty minutes, it cleared out! We took a couple of small boxes to the donation center and that was it! I now know for sure that having a sale that only lasts for a couple of hours works fine for us. We sold all of our patio furniture at the sale and then replaced it with one large set. It seems to be a good plan, but I guess we won’t know how it will work out until we have our first spring/summer party. We used the deck on Easter, but a lot of us ate inside since it wasn’t overly warm.
*b* list of things that have recently caught my eye or my thoughts:
- Restoration Hardware catalog The past couple of RH catalogs have had me inspired, but the one that just came in the mail is already dog-earred. I am looking at the deconstructed furniture and smiling so big when I see the prices and know that I created my own deconstructed chairs last summer. I bought 3 chairs for $5 and tore them apart.
- No dust jackets. About a year or two ago, I came to the realization that I don’t like dust covers on books. So, I gave myself permission to throw them all away. Sounds silly, but it was so freeing.
I just think they look so much more pretty without the cover. I do save a few of the covers, but very few.
- This chalk art. First of all, this whole post and Jennifer’s aesthetic in general always inspires. But the chalk art that she did is beyond captivating! I had someone tell me once that they visualized me as a little bird ready to blossom and fly free from a pretty little birdcage. I need this chalk art in my life! I’ve had a wall in my kitchen that I’ve been wanting to paint a chalkboard on and I think this may be the kick in the pants that I needed!
