one of my favorite sayings because of griffin william. i think you had to be there, but there was this time that he had gotten out of the back of their SUV and when he came back and took his position next to payton, he said, “baby i’m back”. the kid is such a wit. another grif story: he went through a time when he would unbuckle himself while brooke was driving, and brooke would tell him to buckle back up. when she had her car accident and broke her clavicle, she was even more adamant about him not unbuckling. one day he started to unbuckle and she saw him in her rearview and said, “grif, buckle up, so you don’t get hurt like mommy”. to which he said (without missing a beat), “you’re doing okay with one arm”. classic g. the thing about him is that he’s so quick! and he comes up with this stuff when you least expect it!
so anyway, “baby, i’m back”! i feel like i’ve been MIA. with recent projects like re-doing my studio floor and painting at the loft, plus lots of shoots and editing and projects due, it’s been a little crazy. a bunch of things wrapped up this weekend, so i will just be editing away the day today(plus getting groceries and making dinner for a friend). tom was gone for two days last week, on a chamber of commerce harley ride across nebraska, so i worked even more than usual, trying to get caught up a little. i feel pretty good about the progress i made. so if you’re waiting on an email, return call or web gallery, i’m in much better shape this week and hope to have all correspondence caught up! don’t get me wrong, i’m thrilled to be busy and i take it very seriously. it just all takes time.
while tom was gone, i went to jake’s last soccer game and took a few team shots. i didn’t have an opportunity to ask parents permission to post photos, so i’ll just post the ones of jake-
his tongue is out in every action shot! so cute!
i’m glad i made it to this game, because it’s probably jake’s last soccer game. he’s already reached an age where he needed to make a choice about which sport he’ll pursue during the spring season and baseball won. ryan has coached these boys for several seasons, so it was a significant last game for him too. plus jake got his hair buzzed over the weekend! i liked his long hair…i’m sure he looks adorable with it buzzed too. and poppy tom will love the buzz!
thanks for all the nice comments about my studio. i’m super happy with it. love having the extra work surface and cleaned up floor. someone mentioned that i didn’t have a very clear shot of the new floor….i just found this shot that i didn’t even remember taking-
even though raw wood isn’t really “me”, i do think i’m going to love it when it’s painted…and i honestly don’t hate it as is. someone commented and made a great point too, that maybe by the time 6 months goes by, tom will reconsider removing the ugly ceiling while the room is empty : ) it’s a thought!
today another thing i’m going to do is bake. i haven’t baked sweets for months and months. with just tom and i at home, i don’t want the temptation. but i found a recipe recently that sounded so good, “double chocolate oatmeal cookies”, so since i’m taking a meal to a family with children, i thought it would be a good time to try it out. in the summer i do bake more, because of entertaining more. which i realize is the opposite of what most people do.
later today or tomorrow, the new jenni bowlin site will be up! i’ll post a link when it goes live.
have a great monday and God bless!
