i know i have done many interior *b* lists. it’s one of my greatest loves, so i guess i will continue to share what i am inspired by and enjoy. i’ve been bookmarking things that i like for a while, so i thought it was time to share once again. this list is quite varied, so for those of you with organized ideas and minds, i apologize!
*b* list of my recent interior ideas and inspiration:
- design sponge on color flow. the first question she addresses is on painting interior brick (which is an interesting read too), but i really like her suggestions on choosing paint colors and color flow throughout your home. i gave color choices and flow quite a bit of thought before we moved into our current house….it’s interesting when i look back at my file with color ideas and see that the basic choices i made changed as we have lived in the house. i just knew that i did not want to have my house look like a basket of different colored easter eggs, ya know? i wanted to have it flow and not feel totally disconnected. i think this has worked out fairly organically…without a lot of super conscious thought. since i am drawn to pieces with common color tones and finishes, it really has seemed to draw things together. i did find this article to be a good reminder.
- speaking of wall color. i think one of the best ways to select the right color is to see it on someone’s wall. i saw this blue on a wall at an open house and loved it…but would have never picked it from the small paint swatch.
- la dolce vita blog. oh how i love her blog. today she started a special series on “ten things i can’t live without”. i adore these lists. i need to update my list.
- antique lighting as i searched for lighting that i wanted for our house, i was a little frustrated with modern choices. don’t get me wrong, i love some modern lighting, but knew i wanted a few antique pieces in the mix. i found a chandelier that i adore for my dining room when tom and i went on our day trip, but i still need to find a little vintage fixture for our entryway. this link provides a place to look and possibly find something that will work….although i’m not inclined to spend a lot on this piece.
- more on lighting. this is just my personal input : ) overhead lighting is soooo dingy at night. i am a huge fan of lamps and indirect light sources. such a simple way to make a room *feel* more cozy and less institutional.
- flea market style blog. i have admired matthew, ki and linda’s work for a long time…but to see them all collaborating? oh my gosh! it’s dreamy. you can find constant inspiration at their blog. plus, their new magazine will be coming soon….i can’t wait! i have to repeat again something that i think is key to blogging: updating often. period.
- restaging with what you have. okay, so maybe this isn’t new for me….or you. this is still one of my favorite things to do in my home. it literally makes me feel refreshed. it’s one of the most easy, inexpensive, yet satisfying things you can do in your home. when tom and i went on our day trip, i bought this sorta sad little red chair. i’m choosing to call it red, because i really don’t like the color burgundy : ) it does tend to be more of a reddish pink.
i think it will be perfect with my Christmas decor. i stashed away the bright blue wooden chair, but i’ll pull it out again in the spring.
- rethink every things. i like to leave things that are well designed out as part of my decor. my little instant camera is one of those things.
i just like to be able to look around and see the things i love.
because i love big bold prints, i’ve decided that rather than feel guilty about what prints i have up, i will just rotate them out regularly, maybe even seasonally. we have so many adorable big and little people, that it’s the only solution i can come up with. i have plenty of shots of everyone around the house and they know we love them all…at least i hope so! so for now, i have a 16×20 print of grey up. i can’t even stand how sweet he looks!
from next week until Christmas my *b* lists will focus on all things related to the Christmas season!
i have some pics to share!
this family = tons of personality, cuteness, attitude, love. i am in awe.
i like to photograph families/people on steps. it works.
and i used a bus stop for the first time. i love it. i can’t even stand how much i love this.
her yellow sweater makes me happy. the whole family’s color scheme made me really happy.
The Midnight Meat Train the movie
these two liked the jumping part-
oh how i love this shot of the four of them….the colors, the attitude, the cuteness….
i would adopt the whole family if i could.
God bless your day!
