sometimes i feel a need to explain things online, that i wouldn’t feel a need to explain in person. i’ve been sharing *b* lists for a couple of years now, and it all started as a sort of tongue in cheek deal. not that i’m joking about the lists, not at all….it’s just that i hope it’s apparent that i don’t think i’m any kind of expert or that i take myself too seriously. once again, it’s just that #1) i love lists #2) i love sharing ideas and things that i enjoy, believe in, have found helpful, etc….so bear with me as i continue to share these lists : )
before i get on with the list, i thought i would share my storm experience from last night. i came into omaha to return jeans i had bought for tom (which i think looked hot on him, but he thought were too low slung and tight), pick up a few things we needed and then on to meet up with the bagels for dinner. i parked and as i walked to gap, the sirens started to go off. i made it to the store, but they had locked the doors. i saw that there were shoppers in the store, but as i stood under the eave, trying to decide if i should run for my car (in the pouring rain) or wait it out, they kicked the shoppers out! a couple with a baby in a stroller were among the “booted” shoppers. what the ? when that happened, i figured i might as well run for the car. so i sat in my car, listening to the radio, hail pounding my car….and not knowing what to do? i didn’t want to drive, plus i had nowhere to go. becca called and asked where i was, and told me to sit tight and she’d call me right back. she called archivers and asked them to watch for me. what a good friend! i figured that if gap was kicking people out and locking the doors, all the stores were probably doing that as well. i drove the short distance to archivers, and sure enough they were standing at the door waiting for me. they were so sweet! they offered us drinks and chocolate, and basically kept us informed about the storm. it finally passed and becca (the same becca who set me up at archivers
and kelly picked me up…and we did make it to dinner. i was so looking forward to dinner at bonefish with these girls (along with denise and miley) we had a great time and the food was delicious! just what i needed.
i warned you that this list was going to be strictly materialistic. sometimes i just need something more lighthearted, ya know?
*b* list of fashion deals (aka lots of argyle and ruffles)
- basic banana dress. i had tried this dress on a month or so ago, but the $130 pricetag kept me from buying it. it is so simple, i just couldn’t spend that much. i stopped by last weekend, when they had the 30% 0ff friends and family sale and saw the dress again, and it was marked down to $35.99, plus 30% off! i ended up paying $25 for it!
i know it’s a little wrinkled ( i already wore it!), but you get the idea. and it’s SO super comfy! i left it on when we got home from church, and after a couple of hours on the computer, realized that i was still wearing it! normally, we get home from church and i immediately change.
2. jcrew sweater. i love jcrew. and their sales are the best!
$29.99. are you kidding me?! i am always cold, so even in the summer i wear a light sweater almost daily, especially if i go to the mall, a restaurant, grocery store or pretty much any public place where they blast the cold air!
3. jcrew wellies. granted, i’m not sure i could pull these off, but i would love to wear them for a photoshoot, or better yet, have someone adorable wear them while i took photos!
the blue and green stripes are cute too. you can see them here.
4. gap ruffle top. i loved this so much, that i paid full price for it. now, it’s on sale. i adore it! wouldn’t it be gorgeous with jeans and cute flats?
find it here
5. ruffle suit. the swimsuits at gapbody almost make me want to wear one!
they’re all 30% off. i didn’t have time to try any on, nor was i ready to beat myself up after weathering the storm, so i’ll do that another day. i have to go into swimsuit shopping very carefully. i always end up pretty self degrading. you can find this suit here.
6. target trench. i’ve had my eye on this coat for a few months waiting for it to go on sale. it’s still not on sale in stores, but it is online : ) check it out here. i ordered mine this morning.
7. target argyle sweater. i bought this sweater a few weeks ago. i wore it over a long sleeve white t on saturday and it was perfect for the weather here. i love when i can find a cute, inexpensive top that i can wear regardless of what i’m doing and not worry about ruining it. i took the kids to the park, cleaned, and cooked in it.
it was on sale for $14.99 when i bought it.
8. payless ruffle shoes. tom even mentioned that he thought they were nice looking. s0meone posted these on their blog a few months ago, and i had meant to check them out….but by the time i finally remembered, they were on clearance! i paid maybe $20 for them. stop by your local payless….they’re fun and cheap.
i’m a shoe fanatic. it goes way back. i recognized santa’s boots as my uncle tony’s when i was only 4. “mommy, why does santa have uncle tony’s boots on?”
9. makool madilyn top. i love that this is an independent shop in portland. i would love to photograph someone in this adorable ruffle top!
10. american eagle. buy one pair of shorts, get one 50% off. stop by your local store, or check it out online. i bought two pair last night.
happy shopping!
today, i plan to wrap my kits for saturday up pretty and tie them with a bow. we have room for two more in the class…so if you’re interested, see details here . email me at bnovacek@aol.com if you want to sign up! here’s the lunch menu:
chicken caesar salad
crusty warm rolls
fruit tart
if the classes don’t entice you, maybe the menu will? i am so anxious to spend the day with ladies who love what i love, doing what we love to do!
