julie and julia. i can’t stop talking/writing about how much the movie inspired me. that along with my friends who are great cooks and bakers, plus the fall season and cool temps. right now, my island is piled with gorgeous homegrown tomatoes, thanks to gabby and tracy! i have plans for salsa and blts soon. tom and i love fresh salsa…just tomatoes, onion, garlic, parsley, jalepeno, rice vinegar and a pinch of sugar. nothing fancy.
in honor of my love for the thought of cooking and baking, this week’s *b* list:
the *b* gourmet wishlist
- carribbean blue le creuset 7 qt oven i made t’s thai braised beef and realized that i don’t really have the appropriate cookware. i know i would use this piece over and over, if i owned it. tom are you reading?
- a set of 12 ramekins i have a handful of ramekins now, but there have been many times when we have entertained when i would have loved to have more. so classic, simple, utilitarian and beautiful.
- rabbit corkscrew i can’t believe i haven’t bought one of these yet. i almost picked one up at target last week, but for some reason, i didn’t.
- cuisuinart coffee grinder and maker
when i visited tara last month, this is the coffeemaker they have. although i love my french press when it’s just me, when we have people over, it’s not quite efficient enough.
- barefoot contessa back to basics cookbook i adore cookbooks, simple, fresh food and ina. perfection.
- apples for jam cookbook the cover alone has me. plus i have a lot of online friends raving about it : )
- mastering the art of french cooking i don’t own it….so i need to, right? i remember getting it from the library over and over years ago. i’m not sure i ever even made one single recipe, but i loved it nonetheless. my friend pam just made beef bourguignon last week. i’m having lunch with her today and can’t wait to hear how it went!
- costco kirkland stainless steel cookware i’ve had my eye on this cookware for years! it has gotten great reviews on the costco site, as well as consumer reports. i will probably purchase the set sometime soon.
- wolf dual fuel range yes, i’m dreaming, but it’s my wishlist…so i can.
- sub-zero frig the dreaming continues
- bosch diswasher although almost anything would be better than what we have : )
that’s enough dreaming for now. i try not to be too materialistic, but i do like nice things and especially when they are related to my home and family.
of course, i can’t end a post without sharing a recent photo session. brittney isn’t just another pretty face, she is SO photogenic. amazing, really. when i learned through conversation with her family, that they have a cabin on the river, i knew that i wanted to go there for some location shots…and i’m so glad we did!
when i heard her dad teasing her about posing with his old ford pickup…..i was totally sold!
we got so many different looks and all in an hour and a half! thanks for being such a fun subject brittney!
i wrote about dwts yesterday and it did not disappoint! can’t wait to watch tonight. more on that later this week.
have a great day and God bless!
