for the first time in 5 or 6 years, i won’t be going to CHA (craft and hobby association’s sh0w) to work. the first show i attended was in atlanta (i can’t remember if it was 5 or 6 years ago?). i worked the autumn leaves booth at that time and continued to work the AL booth until creativity bought AL. i worked the creativity booth for the past couple of years (i think?), so not going to the show is different….but not necessarily bad. the thing i’m happy about, is that my work will be there even though i won’t. the worst part of it, is not getting to see the people who i became friends with. it’s amazing how much you bond with people you travel with and spend every waking moment with. i love my AL girls! check out my girl jenn (so proud of you jenn! btw, what did you do with your size 8 david khans now that you’re a 2?!). i also became good friends with kim from creativity…we had some great talks. i made lots of connections with people in the industry and store owners ( i had opportunities to travel and teach at their stores in some cases) i will miss seeing the people. that was always really fun, not only because there are some great people, but because of our love of scrapbooking and paper art. we could talk about our hobby without having to explain the ins and outs of products, etc. i always enjoyed seeing new product too. it’s good to look online and see things, but to be able to see and touch it is much better.
i did a project that i ended up really liking for fiskars. can’t share the photos yet, but i will be able to next week.
i will also have a layout in jenni bowlin’s booth-
working for jenni is a dream come true. i love her stuff so much! if you’re going to the show, you MUST go check out the new homespun collection!
i also had the privilege of doing some freelance work for cratepaper. i SO enjoyed working with their products too!
this is the sample i did for the brook collection:
and a sample from the paperdoll collection:
and this sample with the pinkplum collection:
i don’t know if i mentioned it or not when i posted my top favorite recent projects a few days ago or not, but if not for assignments, i probably wouldn’t do many creative projects. i need the push and the deadlines. tom was right when he encouraged me to continue working in the industry. he’s a pretty smart guy : )
so the ice that we have is pretty on the trees. BUT, it’s causing big problems in our yard.
looking out the front window at our beautiful birch tree. makes me so sad.
i really love all of our mature trees, so i hate to lose even one.
unfortunately, we also lost one of our small spruce trees in the backyard, due to the weight of the snow.
these losses are NOTHING when compared to what’s going on in haiti. my friend judi shared a link to good missionary friends of theirs who are serving in haiti. check out their blog. i haven’t read too much yet, but one thing that i read that stuck out to me, was that the witchdoctor next door was heard yelling, “Jesus, save me” when the earthquake was happening.
as their blog says, “keep praying for haiti”.
God bless you.
